Andover Fire Stations

Project Profile

Andover, KS

Home to nearly 16,000 residents, Andover is a growing city that has made major advancements towards the well-being of its citizens. Recently, the city pursued a renovation of their first fire station and built a second one to decrease response times to a large portion of the city.

Fire Station 2 is a new 17,600 square foot station that includes 3 apparatus bays, an area for EMS equipment, dayroom, kitchen, bunk areas, locker room, training areas, and private offices. The design of the station also allows for growth by adding 2 apparatus bays in the future. During the planning and design process, measures were taken to protect the firefighters from carcinogens by providing systems with the highest level of ventilation and decontamination.

Once Station 2 was opened in November 2023, the city’s firefighters relocated there while the renovation of Fire Station 1 was being completed. The goal of the 12,000 SF renovation was to improve space usage and flow throughout the facility. The footprint of the station was not added to; however, the floorplan was reconfigured to accommodate its growing staff and the needs of the department. This included rework of bunk areas, dayroom, kitchen, offices, addition of a training room, rooms for turnout gear, and relocation of oxygen equipment. The renovated Fire Station 1 was reopened in April 2024.

PEC is proud to have provided electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering services for both fire stations which will broaden the safety for Andover and its citizens.
