Viega Northeast Manufacturing Facility

Project Profile

Mantua, OH

Viega and Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) have a long-standing relationship. In 2006, PEC provided engineering designs for one of Viega’s first North American plants in McPherson, Kansas. In 2020, PEC and Viega teamed up again to expand that plant. A few years later, Viega needed to build a nearly identical plant in Mantua, Ohio, they called their trusted partners at PEC.

Built on an 80-acre parcel of land, this facility was designed for function and future growth. Designing this new building took a variety of solutions since it needed to house manufacturing, shipping, offices, and a training center. This new plant was also a highlight for PEC’s work in the world of sustainability. Viega’s goal is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2035, so the building was designed to be carbon neutral. Electrical engineering was a key part of this project. All of the systems, machinery, and operations in this facility had to be electrified to achieve that status. In addition to manufacturing, Viega ships its products from this location, so the team at PEC designed a ramped loading and unloading area for efficiency and ease.

The training area includes conference rooms, classrooms, and hands-on learning areas. These spaces include technology and audio-visual systems to provide enhanced learning experiences with the latest technology.

This unique new facility allows Viega to serve its customers better as well as boost its workforce with training on-site. Plus, with a carbon-neutral design, they further their vision of net-zero emissions.
