“I enjoy everything about PEC… the people, the culture, the work we do, the services we provide, the results we achieve, and most of all, the clients we impact.”

Serving PEC since 1991

Education:

Bachelor of Civil Engineering | Kansas State University 1991

Associate of Mathematics and Science | Colby Community College 1989

License(s):

Professional Engineer – KS

Professional Societies/Associations:

American Society of Civil Engineer, National Society of Professional Engineers

Fun Fact #1: “I really enjoy golfing with a group of clients. We generally (always!) have a small wager involved that also includes bragging rights that last until we get out again.”

Fun Fact #2: “Growing up in Colby, Kansas, meant that you had to create your own fun sometimes. So, when I was 10 years old, I started my own sign shop. The signs I made were plastic with a magnetic backing and painted raised letters. Local companies would buy them to stick on the sides of their vehicles for advertising.”

Fun Fact #3: “My engineering career actually began in 1981 while in high school. I worked for a small local firm, and my duties included plan production/drafting, field surveying, construction staking, inspection, and materials testing of asphalt, concrete and soils. The experience played a large role in helping me decide my future career even before my college days started.”

“This company has so many people that are passionate about its success. Once you’re inside, you immediately become immersed and want to be an integral piece of it. It’s never the same; we’re always changing and adapting to meet the needs of our customers and our markets. This makes for an interesting career— never a dull moment at PEC (despite what people say about engineers).”

Serving PEC since 2007

Education:

Bachelor of Architectural Engineering | Kansas State University 2001

License(s):

Professional Engineer – CA, CO, IA, IL, KS, KY, ND, NE, OH, RI

SDASSE, 6020 Certified Medical Gas Inspector, ASHRAE Healthcare Facility Design Professional

Professional Societies/Associations:

Wichita ASHRAE Chapter, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers, American Society of Plumbing Engineers

Fun Fact #1: “I like to golf, exercise, spend time with the family, watch my kids’ activities (dance, volleyball, baseball, basketball, soccer, Cub Scouts and more), and do home renovation projects. I’m involved in coaching kids sports and enjoy motivating kids to improve and work hard.”

Fun Fact #2: “The running joke at PEC is about how old I am. Don’t let the gray hair fool you, I’m (old but) not that old. I had gray hair in high school. One of the people in my division indicated he thought I graduated from Kansas State in the 80s (it was 2001, thank you very much). Another person asked me how my daughter liked working at PEC (my sister-in-law works at PEC, and she’s not THAT much younger than I am).”

Fun Fact #3: “I grew up in a farming community, but not as a farmer. My dad really taught me about work ethic and giving your all in everything you do. Outworking all those farmers was hard! My first job was mowing lawns, followed up by several construction labor jobs in high school and college during the summer. I did a lot of odd jobs in college, everything from working at a tractor implement company, to assistant manager at a pizza place, to delivering and fixing appliances.”

“Returning to PEC in 2018 after working here in the 1990’s has been the most rewarding decision of my career. I love our culture and our commitment to continually enhance client satisfaction, quality, and professional development at all levels of our organization. And the best part… clients and colleagues. Few things are more rewarding than building new relationships and re-establishing old ones.”

Fun Fact #1: “With five kids, I’ve repeated the phrase… ‘There’s no such thing as a free cat!’ more times than I can count.”

Fun Fact #2: “Although I’m a remarkably terrible golfer, I still love to play golf with clients gracious enough to join me.

Fun Fact #3: “People would be surprised to know; I was once a certified protection dog decoy – the guy in the bite suit. Who’d want to do that, right?”

Fun Fact #1: “My favorite icebreaker question is asking someone what their most interesting or unique job has been over the course of their lifetime. In college, I was a bellringer. Think Quasimodo – a full-blown tower with 5 different bell tones. It was bittersweet in that I could choose to play whatever songs I preferred, however, the scheduled time of 6 am was difficult as a student.”

Fun Fact #2: “I’m a Euchre enthusiast and try to get a game going any chance I get. Got a deck of cards? Deal me in.”

Fun Fact #3: “My family means the world to me.”

Foods I’ve eaten which I thought were palatable, but many find grotesque are raw egg and quail egg yolk, chicken feet, beef and chicken liver, raw ground beef (family farm raised), mountain oysters, and chicken gizzards.”

Fun Fact #3: “At my first job, I worked for a neighbor couple that lived on three acres. They were meticulous about their lawn, trees, and decorations. One of my worst days on the job, I nicked the bark on a tree with the weed eater. You would have thought I physically hurt one of his children; he was so mad. So, I got creative. The next time I nicked a tree, I glued dead leaves to the wounded area, and he never discovered my creative disguise. If he did, I probably would have been fired.”

However, they do not run on either side of our family tree. the day came when we found out that we were pregnant, and we could not have been more excited. In her mind she was having twins. To her disappointment the doctor informed us that it was only a single pregnancy and chucked as she said, “sorry!” To this day I still do not know how it happened, but at 18 weeks lo and behold, we were pregnant with TWINS, and it has been the greatest adventure of my life!”
