The Fun Stuff in His Words
  • Fun Fact #1: “I really enjoy the outdoors, whether it is on a golf course with friends while enjoying an adult beverage, hunting upland game with my two Gordon Setters, or fishing with my son.”
  • Fun Fact #2: “I actually built basements and framed houses in high school and during college summers. Looking back, the construction work actually steered me to civil engineering.”
  • Fun Fact #3: “I dated my wife for only two weeks before I asked her to marry me and we were married just six months later. More than 30 years later, she “acts” like she still loves me.”

The Fun Stuff in His Words
  • Fun Fact #1: “I really enjoy golfing with a group of clients. We generally (always!) have a small wager involved that also includes bragging rights that last until we get out again.”
  • Fun Fact #2: “Growing up in Colby, Kansas, meant that you had to create your own fun sometimes. So when I was 10 years old, I started my own sign shop. The signs I made were plastic with a magnetic backing and painted raised letters. Local companies would buy them to stick on the sides of their vehicles for advertising.”
  • Fun Fact #3: “My engineering career actually began in 1981 while in high school. I worked for a small local firm, and my duties included plan production/drafting, field surveying, construction staking, inspection, and materials testing of asphalt, concrete and soils. The experience played a large role in helping me decide my future career even before my college days started.”

“This company has so many people that are passionate about its success. Once you’re inside, you immediately become immersed in it and want to be an integral piece of it. This makes for an interesting career— never a dull moment at PEC (despite what people say about engineers).”

The Fun Stuff in His Words
  • Fun Fact #1: “I like to golf, exercise, spend time with the family, watch my kids’ activities (dance, volleyball, baseball, basketball, soccer, Cub Scouts and more) and do home renovation projects. I’m involved in coaching kids sports and enjoy motivating kids to improve and work hard.”
  • Fun Fact #2: “The running joke at PEC is about how old I am. Don’t let the gray hair fool you, I’m (old but) not that old. I had gray hair in high school. One of the people in my division indicated he thought I graduated from Kansas State in the 80s (it was 2001, thank you very much). Another person asked me how my daughter liked working at PEC (my sister-in-law works at PEC, and she’s not THAT much younger than I am).”
  • Fun Fact #3: “I grew up in a farming community, but not as a farmer. My dad really taught me about work ethic and giving your all in everything you do. Outworking all those farmers was hard! My first job was mowing lawns, followed up by several construction labor jobs in high school and college during the summer. I did a lot of odd jobs in college, everything from working at a tractor implement company, to assistant manager at a pizza place, to delivering and fixing appliances.”

The Fun Stuff in His Words
  • Fun Fact #1: “I enjoy woodworking, rebuilding muscle cars, working out and traveling to warm places with beaches!”
  • Fun Fact #2: “I have been a competitive water skier for more than 30 years, despite two hip replacements in more recent years. Several years ago I jumped 138 feet. This past year, I built a custom water ski tournament site at which we hosted the 2018 National Water Ski Championships (truly a dream come true). I placed fifth in my age group at the nationals.”
  • Fun Fact #3: “I loved to play football in high school but was not big enough to play for KSU where I attended college, so I decided the next best way to get on the football field was to become a yell leader for the KSU cheer squad. We had a great squad and competed in the College Cheerleading championships in 1985.”

The Fun Stuff in His Words
  • Fun Fact #1: “I drive a seven-seat SUV so that I can fulfill my duties as a soccer dad. We travel around the Midwest supporting our son’s teams for tournaments.”
  • Fun Fact #2: “I have an interesting palate of liked/disliked foods. I don’t like raw onions or peppers, coconut, bologna, Vienna sausages or Spam. I like spicy food, sushi/sashimi, oysters, steak, and all seafood. Foods I’ve eaten which I thought were palatable, but many find grotesque are raw egg and quail egg yolk, chicken feet, beef and chicken liver, raw ground beef (family farm raised), mountain oysters, and chicken gizzards.”
  • Fun Fact #3: “For my first job, I worked for a neighbor couple that lived on three acres. They were meticulous about their lawn, trees, and decorations. One of my worst days on the job, I nicked the bark on a tree with the weed eater. You would have thought I physically hurt one of his children; he was so mad. So I got creative. The next time I nicked a tree, I glued dead leaves to the wounded area and he never discovered my creative disguise. If he did, I probably would have been fired.”

  • Fun Fact #2: “I like building and fixing things, including remodeling or updating our house. That is, of course, until I get into the actual work!”
  • Fun Fact #3: “I was born and raised in Marion, Kansas. I was into sports in high school and was captain of my high school football and basketball teams. My favorite sport, though, was baseball. I coached my kids in several sports when they were younger, and really enjoyed being an offensive coordinator for the football and pitching coach for the baseball teams.”
