City of Valley Center Meridian Avenue Improvements

Project Profile

Valley Center, KS

Meridian Avenue is one of the main entryways into the City of Valley Center, Kansas. With around 9,000 residents, this municipal project was essential to update the City’s aging infrastructure, improving their road network, increasing safety at a dangerous intersection, and enhancing the quality of life for all residents and visitors.

This comprehensive update included the full reconstruction of the roadway, the addition of a 10′ multi-use path to enhance pedestrian access, and a new roundabout at 69th and Meridian to improve traffic safety. Stormwater sewer improvements were made to address long-standing drainage concerns at key locations, including the roundabout and in front of Halstead Bank. The main water line supplying Valley Center was relocated, with minimal impact to the City as a whole. An entryway sign, as well as updated street lighting and other design details, added to the beautification of the area.

As this multi-phase project nears completion, Meridian Avenue will stand as a safer, more efficient gateway into Valley Center, reflecting the community’s growth, progress, and bold vision for the future.
