Kansas City Proton Institute

Project Profile

Kansas City, MO

For more than 25 years Kansas City Urology & Oncology (KCUC) has been Kansas City’s premier provider for urology care. With a network of 23 office locations in Kansas and Missouri, KCUC saw a need to provide patients with the most advanced cancer treatment options available.

A division of KCUC, the Kansas City Proton Institute (KCPI) is a 39,600 SF facility and is home to the region’s first Mevion compact proton therapy system. Proton therapy is a precise form of radiation that can reduce the amount of unnecessary exposure to healthy tissue, which could reduce side effects in patients and improve recovery time.

The Institute has two floors, a partial basement, and ample parking for patient ease and accessibility. It includes oncology, pathology, genitourinary, and urology departments, as well as administrative support space. A proton beam and linear accelerator vault was installed, and the foundation and electrical infrastructure was designed to support an additional proton beam vault in the future.

With industry-leading technology and a committed staff, KCUC and KCPI can deliver enhanced and quality care to cancer patients all around the region.
