Plymouth Place Senior Living Renovations
Plymouth Place had a vision to create a new upscale senior housing campus on their existing 17-acre site. They wanted a facility that was truly exceptional and provided community and security to its residents as well as upscale amenities.
Approximately 20 of the older freestanding villas were torn down to create the new active lifestyle retirement campus. The newly renovated campus contains upscale dining, shopping areas, an aquatics and fitness club, personalized services, and premium amenities. The exterior grounds feature walking trails, gardens, a lake, outdoor kitchen and dining areas, and more. PEC worked with the client throughout the design to help achieve their vision. All mechanical and electrical systems for the resident spaces were designed for comfort, flexibility, and ease of control. The electrical distribution was designed to feed the future phase three building and minimize disruption on the existing campus. PEC’s commissioning team evaluated the mechanical system installation and was able to modify the installed settings/controls on the system to eliminate a persistent condensation issue.
The project had a positive impact on the community and all Plymouth Place residents and employees. During design and early construction, approximately 75% of the villas had sold and by the end of construction only two units remained unsold. A third phase to add an additional 26 private residences is in discussion.
The Plymouth Place Senior Living Renovations project won first place in the 2024 SHN Architecture & Design Award.
