CCCC Technical Education & Innovation Center

Project Profile

Concordia, KS

Trained workers for critical industries are in even more demand than ever before, and excellent learning facilities to educate those workers are vital. As an answer to that call, Cloud County Community College (CCCC) built a new state-of-the-art Technical Education and Innovation Center to facilitate three departments that had previously been spread out over the CCCC campus: Nursing, Renewable Energy, and Agriculture and Industrial Technology.

The new single-story building features classrooms, private offices, nursing simulation center, composites lab, welding classroom (with dedicated gas room), workshops, and climb/drone training space all with the intent of training the next generation of skilled workers for critical industries. The building features a tall lobby space to separate the Nursing area from the Renewable Energy and Agriculture/Industrial areas. Nursing inhabits one side of the facility with offices, classrooms, simulation and associated control rooms, teaching area, and briefing spaces. The other portion of the building facilitates the renewable/industrial focus. Several rooms have no ceilings and in one case is multiple stories tall to allow for drone flight and teaching that pertains to servicing wind turbines. Support spaces include restrooms, storage spaces, meeting/conference rooms, laundry room, and break areas. The site design has a monument sign, drop-off area, a large concrete pad area with seating and tables for outdoor functions and classroom work, and an estimated 128 parking spaces with a large space to the north for bio-retention and possible future expansion.

With the support of faculty and alumni, this facility will help create credible and experienced critical industry workers. CCCC students now have a collective area to learn and train for these important roles that serve our communities.

The new CCCC Technical Education and Innovation Center was funded all through grants and donations. Within that, the facility was partially funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
