Advanced Learning Library

Project Profile

Wichita, KS

The Advanced Learning Library was designed with the goal of fostering accessible technology and innovative learning through the Seven Styles of Learning – visual, aural, verbal, physical, logical, social, and solitary. Upon taking your first tour of the facility, you immediately realize all these styles. This new library invites patrons of all ages to fulfill their learning style.

The Library replaced the central branch location which had been a resource for the City of Wichita for almost five decades. The new building carries a contemporary look with bright colors, large windows, modern lights, and multimedia opportunities. The systems design for the Library is based on the notion that the City of Wichita desired a state-of-the-art building that was functional as well as energy efficient. The functionality and efficiency of this building are paramount traits found when referencing the mechanical and electrical systems.

The new 2-story, 95,000 square foot Advanced Learning Library is now a hub in the City of Wichita for all to learn, gather, and build community. In addition to housing reading, audio-visual, and media resources, it also offers a bookstore, seven collaboration rooms, seven meeting rooms, and the Children’s STEAM Learning Garden, an outdoor children’s area with musical instruments and collaborative games. No matter their age, the Advanced Learning Library has something for everyone in Wichita.
