Town of Windsor Police Station
As a fast-growing community, the Town of Windsor needed a new police station to better serve its citizens. Their previous station opened in 2010 when the police force had fewer officers and staff. To keep on the cutting edge of safety practices, they also needed a facility with updated technology to keep the community safe.
Throughout the project, supply chain and lead time issues were a challenge. By working closely with the contractor, PEC was able to tailor the design to make sure it could meet the timeline. PEC analyzed multiple mechanical system options and considered ongoing energy costs, upfront costs, and serviceability to provide the best long-term solution. For the electrical systems, PEC designed redundant and parallel generators to make sure the power always stayed running. The one-story steel structure is comprised of steel joists and steel wide flange beams supported by steel columns and masonry bearing walls which were also supported on shallow concrete foundations. The PEC technology team worked closely with police department staff to make sure they have a safe and secure building along with giving them helpful A/V tools for their daily needs.
With the additional resources, the new Windsor Police Station helps officers and city employees to serve this growing community better.
