Warren Riverview Park is ready for rain and serves as gateway for Derby
Warren Riverview Park

- Derby, KS
Warren Riverview Park serves as a gateway for visitors entering the City of Derby from the west. The park was envisioned conceptually as a rustic park to appeal to young teens. It includes an adventure playground, canoe/ kayak drop-in, and The Lodge — a rentable venue.
The park resides on a 5-acre, previous public works site along the Arkansas River. Through landform transformation, the existing 16-foot cliff was terraced to open views to the river and provide residents direct access for recreational opportunities on the river. Because it is located on the banks of the Arkansas River, the park was designed to flood. The terraces allow the park to be used at different levels as the water rises. The project received the National APWA Public Works Project of the Year Award.
