Lawton Community Health Center Renovation

Project Profile

Lawton, OK

Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) was part of a team that transformed a former movie theater into the new Lawton Community Health Center, repurposing the 29,101 SF facility into a modern medical office building designed to serve the community’s healthcare needs.

The project included 12,897 SF of second-floor space at the mezzanine level, creating room for expanded clinical and support functions. Sloped theater floors were filled in to form level, even surfaces more suitable for medical use. Existing load-bearing walls were preserved and modified to improve circulation throughout the building. Additionally, a new two-stop elevator was added to improve accessibility.

PEC provided electrical, mechanical, site civil, and structural engineering designs as well as survey services for the renovation. Major building system upgrades included replacing the electrical service, transformer, and switchgear, along with new rooftop mechanical equipment. Site improvements featured a drive-up pharmacy window with a paved driveway, reconfigured parking areas, and new landscaping.

The project also added a new 1,000 SF lobby and a 3,000 SF entrance canopy, creating a welcoming and functional entryway. The renovation reflects a thoughtful reuse of an existing structure while supporting expanded access to healthcare services in Lawton.
