Japan and Wichita firms partner to build grease plant in Kansas

Kyodo Yushi is considered one of the leading grease manufacturers in the world. Lubrication Engineers manufactures and distributes high-performance lubricants from their state-of-the-art manufacturing and technology center in Wichita, Kansas. The two firms formed a joint venture to build an manufacturing grease plant that produces lubricants for the automotive industry.

PEC provided full service engineering design services for the new 66,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that sits on 30 acres of an industrial park. Rail lines serve as the north boundary while electrical transmission lines run along the west side of the site. Site improvements included a perimeter road, shipping and receiving docks and separate parking for employees and visitors. Bulk deliveries of raw materials are received by rail and stored in the tank farm along the rail spur.

Office and production space are also housed on the site. Executives and plant management personnel occupy the attractive single-story office building on the front of the plant. A high-tech conference room with video conferencing capabilities connects the plant with corporate executives and technical advisors in Japan.
