Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) partnered with the City of Longmont to help transform aging park amenities into vibrant spaces that encourage recreation, wellness, and connection.

Spanning three city blocks, Roosevelt Park was first donated to the City in 1892. As one of its oldest parks, the City sought upgrades that would better meet the needs of today’s residents while preserving the park’s role as a community destination.

Updates included replacing playground equipment that had served families for more than 30 years, which resulted in a safer and more engaging place for children to play. An adult fitness course was also added near the Longmont Senior Center, expanding opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities to stay active.

One of the project’s greatest challenges was thoughtfully integrating these new amenities into a beloved park that already hosts a variety of activities. By connecting the new spaces with existing features, the project created a more cohesive experience for visitors.

Today, the upgraded park complements existing attractions such as the activity pool, rose garden, picnic areas, and shelters, giving residents even more ways to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors.
