City of Haysville Sunflower Force Main Emergency Repair

Project Profile

Haysville, KS

When a major section of the Sunflower force main broke, the City of Haysville suddenly faced a serious problem. The break put wastewater service, the environment, and the nearby floodway at risk. The City asked Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) to respond right away, investigate the damage, and help plan the repairs.

Because the situation was urgent, the project moved forward on a fast timeline. Survey crews visited the site and collected detailed measurements across the regulated floodway. They recorded accurate elevation points to understand the shape of the ground, including the slopes of the banks and the depth of the channel. This information helped engineers evaluate how much soil cover the new pipe would need, whether certain construction methods were possible, and how to protect the new line long-term.

Using the survey data, PEC created a plan to guide the City and the contractor through the emergency replacement. These technical documents were important for staying within floodway regulations and helping everyone make quick, informed decisions.

Thanks to fast field work, careful engineering, and strong coordination among partners, the City of Haysville was able to restore this critical utility to protect public safety, the environment, and the community’s well-being.
