Blackfeet Community Hospital Apartment Building
Part of Indian Health Services (IHS), the Blackfeet Community Hospital in Browning, Montana, added an apartment building to provide comfortable, convenient living spaces for healthcare workers serving the community.
Located on the hospital campus, the approximately 20,000 SF apartment building includes 14 units and 24 total bedrooms. The housing options feature a mix of dorm-style living and both one- and two-bedroom apartments, providing flexibility to meet staff needs. The project needed new sidewalks, parking areas, and driveway access as it was being built on a vacant property west of the main hospital building. Tying all of this new construction into the existing infrastructure while also improving the utility services was a major accomplishment for this project.
For rural healthcare providers, attracting and retaining qualified staff can be a challenge. By offering on-site housing, the facility helps strengthen workforce recruitment and retention efforts. This investment supports the hospital’s mission to provide dependable healthcare services for a 1.5-million-acre reservation with more than 8,600 residents.
Beyond the building itself, the project represents an investment in the long-term health of the Blackfeet community. By helping healthcare professionals live and work locally, the development supports continued access to care, strengthens community connections, and contributes to a healthier future for residents across the area.
