Dodge City Facility named "Top Project"

The PEC-designed Dodge City Water Reclamation Facility was chosen as a "Top Project for 2012" by Water and Wastes Digest.

The facility is notable because it enables the city to fulfill a policy of 100 percent beneficial reuse of wastewater.  Treated effluent from the plant is sanitized and used to irrigate public parks and athletic facilities.

Sarah Unruh, PEC program manager for the project, explains "This plant is more than just a showcase plant.  It makes a huge contribution to the city's sustainability and resource conservation."

Time Tower project takes design award

The Rotary Time Tower project was recently given the Chris Cherches Award by the city of Wichita.  The award recognizes a public project that embodies "aesthetic vision" for the city.

Cherches, now deceased, was a former Wichita city manager and an avid supporter of the arts.

The Time Tower was a public/private partnership, partially funded by the Rotary Club. It is located on the historic site that was once home to the original Coleman Company factory, and was completed in December, 2011.

"It's a nice honor and we're pleased," said Ben Mabry, project manager for PEC. "We're even more pleased that it's such an attractive addition to downtown Wichita."
