Kansas Nitrate Maps

Side-by-side thresholds for quick comparison.

These maps display nitrate levels in Kansas drinking water systems using data from the EPA and KDHE Drinking Water Watch for the past two years (2024–2025). Each county is shaded according to the average of city two-year maximum nitrate results, and individual cities can be clicked to view details such as the number of tests conducted at each entry point and how many exceeded the threshold.

Currently, the EPA’s Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for nitrate is 10 mg/L, but is expected to be lowered to 5 mg/L in the future. These maps provide a side-by-side comparison of compliance under both standards, helping visualize how this upcoming change could impact water systems across the state.
