Douglas County Special Olympics “My fiancí volunteers too. Her sister has down syndrome. They’ve been involved with Special Olympics for eight years. I went to a soccer game with her and thought ‘Okay I can get into this,’” says Michael Becker, PEC structural design engineer.

PALS Animal Rescue Cindy Cameron, Administrative Assistant Supervisor at PEC Field Services has been an animal lover her whole life. She’s a volunteer for PALS Animal Rescue. PALS is an organization of volunteers who place animals into qualified homes. Most animals are rescued from the Wichita Animal Shelter.
Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas Wesley Nyberg did not hesitate when a friend asked him to volunteer at the Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas (MHASCK). He jumped right in.
Kansas Heart Association PEC project engineer Lynn Moore has always been physically active. He completed countless 5Ks, marathons and even ultra marathons. While running in the 2012 Head for the Cure 5K, Moore felt an unexpected pain in his chest. He kept running. Three days later, that pain was diagnosed as a heart attack.
