Helping youth become the leaders of tomorrow

“I enjoy being a positive role model for our youth as they develop skills to be the leaders of tomorrow,” says PEC structural engineer Dennis Cook.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) program is a leadership training organization that develops life skills boys use to succeed in life. It is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character and trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship.

“It also includes physical activity and community service projects. I became involved when my oldest son was old enough to join. I have become increasingly more involved in leadership roles,” says Cook.

Cook is an active leader for the Cub Scout Pack as Assistant Cubmaster. He is the Assistant Scoutmaster and merit badge counselor for Boy Scouts. Cook has been involved with local Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts since 2006.

He and his troop regularly help with community projects. They mow yards for veterans, clean up brush at local churches, pick up litter and more. Most recently, his troop spent a weekend painting garage doors and rescreened doors for the father of one of Cook’s co-workers.

For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
