CESSNA AIRCRAFT COMPANY
CITATION JET SERVICE CENTER

Cessna Aircraft Company established product support as a priority before the first Citation jet was ever delivered. Providing superior product support to every Citation operator sets Cessna apart from other aircraft manufacturers. This customer-focused support is achieved through a global network of Cessna-owned and authorized service facilities.

These centers provide around the clock, seven-days-a-week support and access to spare parts, maintenance, and technical information necessary for the 185,000 Cessna aircraft in the fleet. Dedicated to expanding the Citation Service Center network as the fleet grows, Cessna constructed the Wichita Citation Service Center, the world’s largest business jet service center and the largest single tenant structure in the State.

Located on a 124-acre site at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, this state-of-the-art 443,000-square-foot facility can service over 100 Citations simultaneously. The 1,600-foot-long building is equivalent to 2-1/2 city blocks or 5-1/2 football fields long.

The majority of the building consists of five hangars. Of these, three hangars are 60,000-square feet each, one is 40,000-square-feet, and one is 27,000-square-feet. The facility has numerous customer lounges, a 3-story office building, flight planning areas, full-service restaurant, gift shop, paint hangar, hydraulic shop, metal shop, composite shop, upholstery shop, parts cribs, battery rooms, avionics laboratory, and service support areas. The avionics area is equipped with special HVAC systems, a grounding grid, and static dissipating floors.

The project included a 675,000-square-foot concrete apron and associated taxiways including drainage, paving, lighting, utilities and landscaping. The facility’s exterior is equipped with a dedicated run-up area, two compass roses, and four fuel farms.

A separate remote Fire Pump Building was constructed with two 720 HP turbo charged diesel fire pumps and bays for two more. These pump from a split 1,000,000 gallon underground reservoir. A 20” discharge header feeds a 16” underground fire loop around the building with a 16” feed south to the campus.

Professional Engineering Consultants, P.A. provided Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil Engineering and Telecommunications Design, as well as Survey and Inspection Services for the project.
