We value integrity above all
PEC inspectors and technicians are knowledgeable, experienced and committed to the client’s best interests. Our inspectors and technicians work with the benefit of extensive cross-training in several disciplines. We can perform all the field tests necessary for full quality-control associated with soils, aggregates, concrete and asphaltic concrete. We ensure professional workmanship. We act as liaison between contractor and owner to guarantee compliance with plans and specifications. Our inspectors have proven themselves on construction sites of every kind:
• large buildings
• airports
• highways
• water treatment plants
• wastewater treatment plants
• public utilities
• bridge structures
• subdivisions
• commercial centers
• street construction and rehabilitation
PEC’s construction observation and documentation services are comprehensive and detailed:
• pavements (sub-grade, strength, smoothness, surface texture, control joints)
• utilities, including the preparation of bedding and supervision of trench backfilling
(gas, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewers, electrical controls, communications and conduits)
• structures with major foundations and reinforcing
• soils for excavations and embankments
• landscaping and irrigation systems
• drainage structures
• painting
• electrical conduits and cables
• product manufacturing control
• retaining walls
With one of the largest staffs in Kansas and an average tenure among our inspectors of more than 15 years, PEC responds immediately to client needs. Our goal is to deliver our clients construction projects that meet the contract’s specifications and the owner’s expectations.
TESTING SERVICES
Because what goes in determines what comes out
PEC’s in-house laboratory was the first private lab in Kansas to earn full AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) accreditation in concrete, asphalt and soils. We use our in-house laboratory and fully equipped portable laboratory trailers in the delivery of highly accurate, highly efficient testing services. These services begin before a project’s design and continue through the duration of its construction:
• laboratory soil testing
• aggregate certification
• asphalt and asphaltic concrete
• Portland cement and Portland cement concrete
• reinforcing steel
• metals (non-destructive testing, inspection)
• quality control/quality assurance
PEC invests in the technology that supports the speed and accuracy of our work. Our asphalt ignition furnace, for example, uses the most advanced technology available to measure asphalt content in a methodology developed by the National Center for Asphalt Technology and proven to be accurate, fast and safe.
PEC’s gyratory compactor produces asphalt specimens that best predict long-term pavement performance to comply with SHRP’s Superpave program. For the testing of concrete, the firm maintains a state-of-the-industry cure room, destructuring equipment and aggregate testing equipment.
