Transportation Design Engineer in our Wichita Office

Professional Engineering Consultants, P.A. (PEC) in Wichita, Kansas is seeking an experienced design engineer in their Transportation Division. This is a highly responsible position reporting directly to the Transportation Division Manager. Primary work assignments will be highway and interchange design projects. Previous state DOT consulting or DOT work experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be a proven team leader with excellent communication skills and technical abilities.

Minimum qualifications:

  • B.S. in civil/transportation engineering
  • Professional engineer (PE) license
  • 10 years of highway design experience
  • System-to-system interchange design experience
  • Project management experience
  • MicroStation/GEOPAK proficiency
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Traffic Engineer in our Wichita, KS office

Professional Engineering Consultants, P.A. (PEC) in Wichita, Kansas is seeking an experienced traffic engineer in their Transportation Division. As one of the largest multidiscipline firms in Kansas, PEC employs more than 250 people in five offices and is ranked among the top 500 design firms nationwide by Engineering News Record Magazine. PEC has a track record of building exceptional client relationships and is seeking applicants dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our loyal client base.

The position requires Professional Engineer (PE) licensure with a bachelor’s degree in civil/transportation/traffic engineering and six to eight years related experience. Previous state DOT consulting experience and PTOE certification are desirable. Flexibility is needed to tackle variable work assignments that may include project management, interchange/intersection design, signage and pavement marking, traffic analysis, preparation of reports/studies and business development.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and expertise in several of the following transportation areas:

  • Project management
  • Highway interchange design
  • Arterial intersection design
  • MicroStation (preferred) or AutoCAD proficiency
  • Traffic signal design
  • Traffic impact, operational, and safety analyses
  • Traffic simulation modeling (Synchro and VISSIM)
  • Travel demand modeling
  • ITS technologies
  • Traffic studies and/or transportation planning
  • Business development and client relations
  • Economic/fiscal analysis, life-cycle costing, return on investment, etc.
